Hong Kong is located at a distance of about sixty kilometers from Macau. This wonderful city-state is famous for its deep natural harbor. According to a statistical analysis about seven million people live in this part of the world. Hong Kong occupies an area of about one thousand and one hundred four square kilometers. The major portion of the population constitutes of the Chinese people. Currently it is one of the most important financial centers in the world. There are about two hundred offshore islands in Hong Kong. The Lantau Island is the biggest of all. Hong Kong is famous all over the world for its capitalist economy. Nowadays it is one of the major trading centers of the world as well. It is to be noted that most of the corporate headquarters are located in Asia Pacific. Apart from that Hong Kong has a large Stock Exchange as well. Hong Kong turned into a well developed financial centre in the year 1990. However it was very badly affected in the year 1998 due to financial crisis. It suffered another blow in the year 2003 due to the outbreak of the SARS. Most of the food products and raw materials are being imported in Hong Kong. Moreover, Hong Kong is considered to be the biggest re-export centre of the world. Agriculture does not contribute significantly to Hong Kong’s economy. This city-state is at a very convenient location as well. This city is said to have an extremely busy container port as well. About 3.5 million people are employed in Hong Kong. The service centers contribute in a big way to the economy of Hong Kong. There are about nine big universities in this beautiful city-state. Among them the University of Hong Kong is famous all over the world. It is one of the oldest institutions in Hong Kong.
Currently there are sixty three healthcare institutions in Hong Kong. These healthcare institutions include both the public as well as private hospitals. Hong Kong is also known for its various films on martial arts. The two most highly popular figures in Hong Kong are Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee. The Hong Kong International Airport is one of the best airports in Asia. Close to eighty five airlines are being operated from this airport. This city has a well developed railway system too. The city is said to have some of the biggest skyscrapers in the word. Hong Kong earns a fair bit of its economy from tourism as well. Some of the tourist attractions in Hong Kong are the Repulse Bay, Jumbo Kingdom and Hong Kong Park etc. There are some fascinating hotels in Hong Kong as well. Hong Kong has earned huge fame in aspects like economic freedom, quality of life etc.
